Terms of Service
Last updated October 13, 2026
These are the rules for using Rubber Band (rubberband.app and its apps). Rubber Band is run by Cousins Management Group, LLC (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Rubber Band, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Rubber Band.
Who can use Rubber Band
You must be at least 13 years old to make an account. If you’re under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
If you sign up for a band, business or other group, you’re telling us you have the authority to agree to these terms for it.
Your account
- Give us your real name and an email address you can get mail at.
- Keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us right away at support@rubberband.app if you think someone else has gotten into your account.
Bands and roles
A band in Rubber Band has one owner, and the owner and leaders decide who joins and what each person can see and change. The band owner controls the band’s account and its billing. Ownership only changes hands when the owner offers the band to another member and that member accepts. If someone removes you from a band, you lose access to that band’s songs, charts, chats and records, even ones you added.
Copying a band you leave. By joining a band, you agree that when a member (but not a guest or sub) leaves the band, is removed from it, or is in it when it’s deleted, and has been a member for at least 7 days, that person may copy the band’s shared work into a band of their own for 30 days afterward. That includes the band’s songs, charts and chart files, setlists, gig history, venues and venue contacts, and stage plots, along with their own notes. It doesn’t include other members’ contact details, personal notes or chart versions, chat, availability, the booking pipeline, or anything about money or pay. The same applies to you if you leave.
Disagreements between band members — about money, songs, who’s in the band or anything else — are between you. We don’t referee them, but we may follow the band owner’s instructions about the band’s account.
Your content
“Your content” means everything you or your band puts into Rubber Band: songs, charts, lyrics, notes, setlists, files, photos, messages, venue and contact details, money records and the rest.
- You keep ownership. We don’t claim any rights in your content beyond what we need to run Rubber Band for you.
- You let us handle it. You give us permission to store, copy, display, format and send your content, only so we can run Rubber Band — for example, to show a chart on your bandmates’ tablets, transpose it, save it for offline use, or show your public band page to visitors.
- You’re responsible for it. Only add content you have the right to use. That includes lyrics and chord charts: if you paste in a chart, you’re telling us you have the right to use it for your band — for example, from a service you subscribe to that lets you do that.
- Charts stay private to your band. Charts and lyrics you add are only shown to members of your band. We don’t publish them or share them with other bands.
- Public band page. Anything you choose to put on your public band page can be seen by anyone on the internet.
If someone tells us your content infringes their copyright, we follow the process on our Copyright page, which can mean removing it and, for repeat infringers, closing accounts.
The song catalog
Rubber Band includes a shared catalog of song titles, artists and details such as key, tempo and length. It does not include lyrics or chord charts. Catalog details are gathered from public music databases and from bands, and may be wrong — always trust your own ears. Songs bands suggest for the catalog are reviewed before other bands can see them, and we may edit or leave out any suggestion.
Things you can’t do
- Break the law, or help anyone else break it, using Rubber Band.
- Upload content you don’t have the right to share, or that infringes someone’s copyright or trademark.
- Harass, threaten or spam anyone, including bandmates, venues or people who contact your band.
- Upload viruses or anything meant to harm Rubber Band or the people who use it.
- Try to get into bands, accounts or data you weren’t invited to.
- Scrape, copy or resell Rubber Band or its song catalog, or overload it with automated requests.
- Pretend to be someone else, or to be a band you’re not part of.
Bookings, gigs and money
Rubber Band helps you keep track of inquiries, bookings, gigs, payments and payroll. It’s a record-keeping tool. We aren’t a party to any deal between your band and a venue, client or bandmate, we don’t handle that money, and we aren’t responsible if anyone doesn’t pay, cancels or doesn’t show. The figures Rubber Band calculates are for your convenience; they aren’t tax, legal or accounting advice.
When a visitor sends your band an inquiry from your public page, it goes to your band. It’s up to you how you reply and what you agree to.
Paid plans
Some features may need a paid plan. If you sign up for one:
- The price, what’s included and how often you’re billed are shown before you pay.
- Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and your plan keeps working until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- Except where the law says otherwise, payments aren’t refundable for partly used periods.
- Payments are handled by our payment processor. We don’t see or store your full card number.
- We may change prices. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it does.
- If a payment fails, we may move your band to a free plan or pause paid features until it’s sorted out.
- The first band you create may come with a free trial of a paid plan. No card is needed, and you aren’t charged unless you choose to subscribe. If you don’t, the band moves to the free plan when the trial ends and nothing is deleted. One trial per person.
Outside services
Rubber Band links to and plays from other services, such as YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud, and you might paste charts from sites such as Ultimate Guitar. Those services have their own terms. We aren’t responsible for them.
Changes to Rubber Band
We’re always improving Rubber Band, so features will come, change and occasionally go. We’ll try to give you notice before removing something you rely on.
Leaving, and closing accounts
You can stop using Rubber Band at any time. To close your account, email support@rubberband.app. Band owners can ask us to close their band. When a band is deleted, its members get the chance to copy its shared work described under “Bands and roles” before it’s erased.
We may suspend or close an account or band that breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or that we have to close by law. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to fix things or export what you need.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep Rubber Band running and your data safe, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or right for your needs. Stage mode can save a show for offline use, but please keep a backup plan for the gig — a phone, paper charts, or a good memory.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Cousins Management Group, LLC won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost gigs or lost data, arising from your use of Rubber Band. Our total liability for any claim about Rubber Band is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50.
Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
If someone makes a claim because of you
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you added or how you used Rubber Band in breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Virginia and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you and we both agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Before going to court, please email us — most problems can be sorted out with a conversation.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Rubber Band after that, you’re agreeing to the new terms.
The rest of the fine print
These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Copyright page are the whole agreement between you and us about Rubber Band. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to do it later. You can’t transfer these terms to someone else without our permission; we can transfer them if Rubber Band is sold or reorganized.
